About the Author

Janice Englander Katz, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with 28 years of experience working to improve the lives of children, families, and adults. Dr. Katz is the founder and president of The Child Care Consortium that operates Imagination Station Child Development Center, an NAEYC-accredited, licensed, educational child care center in Michigan City, Indiana. She provides mental health consulting for many early childhood programs throughout Northwest Indiana and has taught child psychology at Purdue University North Central.

Dr. Katz is an inexhaustible community organizer committed to finding systematic solutions to societal challenges. Concerned about our nation’s high preschool expulsion rate and the dire ramifications of untreated early behavior problems, Dr. Katz is working to create an early childhood mental health consultation system for the state of Indiana. She is an active member of the Indiana Association for Infant and Toddler Mental Health, Infant Toddler Specialists of Indiana Steering Committee, and Indiana’s Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems initiative. Dr. Katz also serves as Chair of the Public Policy Committee for Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children. She has served on many nonprofit boards, is a frequent presenter at local, state, and regional conferences, and provides workshops for physicians, educators, and parents.

She earned her doctorate and master’s degrees in psychology at Washington University in St. Louis and her bachelor degree in psychology and child development at University of Minnesota. Dr. Katz and her husband have two sons, ages 23 and 19.

They get to know one another online, but when she asks for his picture, he sends her one of Josh instead. Finally, Jason decides to be honest with her, and he realizes that he should have told the truth all along. Okimoto has crafted a charming, sensitive coming-of-age story that deftly captures the awkwardness of adolescence. Many teens will identify with the boy's self-doubt and his struggle to be comfortable with himself. This is one of those rare novels that will appeal equally to boys and girls. It's a lot of fun, but it also has heart.

Realistic, funny book that boys will definitely like

That hard-to-find book--realistic fiction about a boy that boys will enjoy. Girls will like this too. Jason is a character teenagers can identify with, as he struggles with family, school, and romance. Seattle readers will enjoy the local setting.

Somewhat Boring

Jason's parents are divorced, his best friend has a new girlfriend every week, and he has no romance in his life. His only solace is the love of his dog, and his online friend, Allison Gray. But when his father decides to get married to someone who resembles Miss Piggy, Jason's life takes a turn for the worse. Because now, not only does he have to deal with a new stepmother, but also a new stepbrother. Whom just happens to be Mr. High School All-American, and very popular with the ladies. But when his online pal wants a picture of him, and he sends one of his stepbrother, his life may just get a little bit worse.
I personally would not recommend this book to anyone. The characters are boring and uninteresting. And the plot is a bit cliched. I recommend reading something, like "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" instead of this.

I actually liked this book. Well i liked it because its about a boy thats about the same age as i am, so i can relate to some of his problems. Also because it was just a fun book to read, there was hardly ever a time when i got bored reading it. The last reason is because it had a lot of different emotions, it had sad times, happy times, and funny times.

My favorite part in the book was whenever he met Alison Gray online. It showed the conversation they were actually having in the chat room. They even talked like most kids do today. It also showed what everyone else was saying in the chat room.

The story elements that were most vivid were the characters and setting. They really described the characters and i could really picture them in my head. Same for the setting they used a lot of details.

Got both CD version and the hardcover. Get the hardcover since the audio has only a small fraction of the content

The readings included in the CD were excellent, but the vast majority wasn't included. This book was way too abridged in the audio preparation. For that reason I suggest getting the physical book instead of audio. I got both and will confirm that every chapter of this anthology was excellent.

My favorite segment is by Edwin Lefevre called "Vanished Billions." Lefevre is my favorite financial writer of the 20s and 30s. Wow, this one is good! It's not in the CD though.

One of my favorites is Selling Short by Martin Zweig. His explanation of trading rules and the difficulty in following resonated with me. It was interesting to hear the reading from Mario Gabelli called Grand Slam Hitting. Whereas this book was compiled in the 90s based on writings from earlier times, Gabelli had interesting predictions on the future that turned out to be mainly accurate.

This is an anthology, a collection of writings by notable authors. I got the feeling that money was never the primary or original motivator for them. They were intensely interested in solving problems having to do with investing, speculating and economics.

A solid conservative investment for your reading portfolio.

An exceptional collection of essays by 46 great names business such as Pickens, Baruch, Moody, Buffet, Lynch, Forbes, Soros, and Trump. Key themes include: basic of analysis; attitude and philosophy; strategy; cycles; views from the inside; and more. Each essay includes a biographical sketch of the writer.
This collection of essays proves to be interesting, entertaining, and filled with informative thoughts. This is not a 'how to get-rich-quick in the stock market book'; it is more of a solid, conservative investment for your reading portfolio. Audiobook version is entertaining!

My local library has the OverDrive eAudio version of this book, and because the topic can be rather dry to read, the narration does a good job of pacing me, and getting me through the volume.

The content is not much different from other books or audio-books of the genre, but because I don't work in the financial milieu, it helps to reinforce the type of thing and expected reaction for people living a "financial lifestyle"!

Seesemann's work revolves around the emergence and spread of the "Community of the Divine Flood," established in 1929 by Ibrahim Niasse, a leader of the Tijaniyya Sufi order from Senegal. Based on a wide variety of written sources and encounters with leaders and ordinary members of the movement, the book analyzes the teachings and practices of this community, most notably those concerned with mystical knowledge of God. It presents a vivid and intimate portrait of the community's formation in Senegal and its subsequent transformation into a veritable transnational movement in West Africa and beyond. Drawing on letters, poetry, hagiography, and testimonies of opponents of the movement, the book traces Niasse's spectacular ascension as the widely acclaimed "Supreme Saint of His Era" and shows how the various stages of his career intersect with the development of his mystical teachings. Seesemann makes a compelling case for studying Sufis and their literary production in their social and historical contexts, throwing light on a little known chapter of the intellectual and social history of Islam.

R�diger Seesemann teaches in the Department of Religious Studies at Northwestern University and specializes in the study of Islam in Africa. He has done fieldwork in various West and East African countries and has published extensively on Sufism, Islam and politics, Islamism, Islamic education, as well as theories and practices of Islamic knowledge.

Excellence has a Name...."The Divine Flood"

The scholarship exhibited in this book is of the highest quality. The fact that the author took over 15 trips to West Africa to do field research is one of many indicators that this book will become a classic in its field. Buy this book and lend it at your own risk....it may not find its way home.
