About the Author

Janice Englander Katz, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with 28 years of experience working to improve the lives of children, families, and adults. Dr. Katz is the founder and president of The Child Care Consortium that operates Imagination Station Child Development Center, an NAEYC-accredited, licensed, educational child care center in Michigan City, Indiana. She provides mental health consulting for many early childhood programs throughout Northwest Indiana and has taught child psychology at Purdue University North Central.

Dr. Katz is an inexhaustible community organizer committed to finding systematic solutions to societal challenges. Concerned about our nation’s high preschool expulsion rate and the dire ramifications of untreated early behavior problems, Dr. Katz is working to create an early childhood mental health consultation system for the state of Indiana. She is an active member of the Indiana Association for Infant and Toddler Mental Health, Infant Toddler Specialists of Indiana Steering Committee, and Indiana’s Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems initiative. Dr. Katz also serves as Chair of the Public Policy Committee for Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children. She has served on many nonprofit boards, is a frequent presenter at local, state, and regional conferences, and provides workshops for physicians, educators, and parents.

She earned her doctorate and master’s degrees in psychology at Washington University in St. Louis and her bachelor degree in psychology and child development at University of Minnesota. Dr. Katz and her husband have two sons, ages 23 and 19.

The only bright moment in Jason's life comes when he meets Allison, a surfer from Hawaii, in cyberspace. Jason really connects with this girl. They get to know one another online, but when she asks for his picture, he sends her one of Josh instead. Finally, Jason decides to be honest with her, and he realizes that he should have told the truth all along. Okimoto has crafted a charming, sensitive coming-of-age story that deftly captures the awkwardness of adolescence. Many teens will identify with the boy's self-doubt and his struggle to be comfortable with himself. This is one of those rare novels that will appeal equally to boys and girls. It's a lot of fun, but it also has heart.

Realistic, funny book that boys will definitely like

That hard-to-find book--realistic fiction about a boy that boys will enjoy. Girls will like this too. Jason is a character teenagers can identify with, as he struggles with family, school, and romance. Seattle readers will enjoy the local setting.

Somewhat Boring

Jason's parents are divorced, his best friend has a new girlfriend every week, and he has no romance in his life. His only solace is the love of his dog, and his online friend, Allison Gray. But when his father decides to get married to someone who resembles Miss Piggy, Jason's life takes a turn for the worse. Because now, not only does he have to deal with a new stepmother, but also a new stepbrother. Whom just happens to be Mr. High School All-American, and very popular with the ladies. But when his online pal wants a picture of him, and he sends one of his stepbrother, his life may just get a little bit worse.
I personally would not recommend this book to anyone. The characters are boring and uninteresting. And the plot is a bit cliched. I recommend reading something, like "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" instead of this.

I actually liked this book. Well i liked it because its about a boy thats about the same age as i am, so i can relate to some of his problems. Also because it was just a fun book to read, there was hardly ever a time when i got bored reading it. The last reason is because it had a lot of different emotions, it had sad times, happy times, and funny times.

My favorite part in the book was whenever he met Alison Gray online. It showed the conversation they were actually having in the chat room. They even talked like most kids do today. It also showed what everyone else was saying in the chat room.

The story elements that were most vivid were the characters and setting. They really described the characters and i could really picture them in my head. Same for the setting they used a lot of details.

Got both CD version and the hardcover. Get the hardcover since the audio has only a small fraction of the content

The readings included in the CD were excellent, but the vast majority wasn't included. This book was way too abridged in the audio preparation. For that reason I suggest getting the physical book instead of audio. I got both and will confirm that every chapter of this anthology was excellent.

My favorite segment is by Edwin Lefevre called "Vanished Billions." Lefevre is my favorite financial writer of the 20s and 30s. Wow, this one is good! It's not in the CD though.

One of my favorites is Selling Short by Martin Zweig. His explanation of trading rules and the difficulty in following resonated with me. It was interesting to hear the reading from Mario Gabelli called Grand Slam Hitting. Whereas this book was compiled in the 90s based on writings from earlier times, Gabelli had interesting predictions on the future that turned out to be mainly accurate.

This is an anthology, a collection of writings by notable authors. I got the feeling that money was never the primary or original motivator for them. They were intensely interested in solving problems having to do with investing, speculating and economics.

Key themes include: basic of analysis; attitude and philosophy; strategy; cycles; views from the inside; and more. Each essay includes a biographical sketch of the writer.
This collection of essays proves to be interesting, entertaining, and filled with informative thoughts. This is not a 'how to get-rich-quick in the stock market book'; it is more of a solid, conservative investment for your reading portfolio. Audiobook version is entertaining!

My local library has the OverDrive eAudio version of this book, and because the topic can be rather dry to read, the narration does a good job of pacing me, and getting me through the volume.

The content is not much different from other books or audio-books of the genre, but because I don't work in the financial milieu, it helps to reinforce the type of thing and expected reaction for people living a "financial lifestyle"!

R�diger Seesemann teaches in the Department of Religious Studies at Northwestern University and specializes in the study of Islam in Africa. The scholarship exhibited in this book is of the highest quality. The fact that the author took over 15 trips to West Africa to do field research is one of many indicators that this book will become a classic in its field. Buy this book and lend it at your own risk....it may not find its way home.

The trio of authors--Jeri Edwards, Dan Harkey, and Robert Orfali--make the topic interesting with a down-to-earth style that covers the informational landscape without boring the reader to tears. Numerous nontechnical diagrams drive home important concepts quickly.

The first part consists of a comprehensive overview of client/server computing. In this critical introduction, the authors discuss the paradigm, the various flavors of servers, and the basics of two-tier and three-tier architectures. They also discuss how the client/server works in the real world and introduce the concepts of LAN, WAN, and other connection topologies.

Next, the authors introduce you to the various operating systems, the concept of middleware, and communication protocols. this book is not for programmers

This book is great for marketing and management professionals who work in the IT industry and need to understand the technology they are working with in plain language. This book does NOT give any kind of programming level explanations on how to implement this technology. The book pretty much reads like a sales pamphlet for the respective software technologies that it describes. I was tempted to give this book 3 stars as it was totally useless for my programming needs, but people without my background might like this book.

A good book to read twice...

I don't have a programming background and only had general knowledge about the client/server architecture world when I purchased this book. I needed to come up to speed quickly. The book was recommended to me by a co-worker who is extremely knowledgeable about c/s. At first I tired to read the book as a reference piece, reading just the parts that I was interested in at the time. I didn't get anything out of the book, confused by all the acronyms. I found myself with some free time and ended up reading the book cover-to-cover within a week (unfortunately not sitting on the beach as the authors suggest).
This made a world of difference. Each chapter builds on the next and the information started to crystallize. I highly recommend this book for anyone that wanted to learn about c/s. I plan to read it again. With ever-changing technology this book will become quickly out-dated. This is one reader that will be looking for the next edition. The reason this book is "one star short" is because while I was reading, I kept wishing for a section where all the acronyms are expanded for quick reference. A glossary would also be great.

Normal Christianity

Normal Christianity is living the book of Acts. Jonathan Welton challenges Christians to look like the supernatural Jesus. He shares Biblical teaching and personal testimonies of the sick being healed and the dead being raised. The book is a wake up call and a call to action to the church. Welton encouraged me and stretched my faith with this book. Pray for child like faith and get ready for the impossible as you read this book.

What Kathryn Kuhlman did as a Minister of the Word and one who was Gifted with the Healing Hand of the Holy Spirit was 'normal'.
The problem today is that the church, from my experience, is walking away from the Gift of Healing and in fact most of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. In fact we are removing altar railings and replacing them with only steps to the platform.
Kathryn, as is Benny Hinn and so many others who are serving the Body of Christ are helping the Body with the Healing of Jesus.
The Church must change before the 'Coming of our Lord the 2nd time.'
Chapter Two 'Revival Myths' should be read by each Christian.
This is an excellent book and one for each pastor, minister, and church leader to read and study.

high-end revival should be our daily routine

in believing that high-end revival should be our daily routine, the author voids its ambiguous varieties. the term "revival" has been clich�d through supernatural movements and stereotypes by believers who continue to idealize the mysterious and powerful ways of God. will we ever stop incorporating revelations of Jesus Christ into religious movements? is this evidence of human nature, like when David decided to build a house for God?

today, many invoke vague religious ideals through mantras chanted long enough to become idolized. one example is the leading question WWJD? but if every believer answered by putting on the teeshirt, walking from town to town spreading the awesome news of the quickly approaching kingdom of heaven, laying hands on the sick, seeing them healed, casting out demons, praying over dead bodies, then seeing them raised, WWJD would no longer seem like a faded teeshirt--people would be flagging down those iron-on letters for prayer.

among a throng of believers standing in a colosal oxygen tent--when the weighty presence of God becomes tangible in an auditorium, followed by waves of healing miracles, the presence of God comes and revives, bringing yet another revelation to throw a wrench in the gears--breaking more religious teeth. something that stirs up those pesky religious spirits every time. but more importantly, every single revelation of Jesus that enters the body tweaks our vision toward clarity.

the daily purely supernatural walk of Jesus is held up as a Christian ideal. from there, we could actually raise the "normal" bar even higher--as the author points out--since Jesus raised it when He taught us that not only could we do what He did down here, but after He returned to the Father in heaven, we would be empowered to do even *greater works*. because (1) Jesus would send down Holy Spirit to also be a powerhouse within us, and (2) because the Son of God would no longer be holding back the glory of God. now, add to that the promise: by faith, nothing is impossible for us. in that light, does healing the sick and casting out devils actually seem like a starting point, with Jesus as the source of infinite power who grinds every well-thought-out Christian ideal into dust?
