Was very good

I love this authors writing. The characters have depth and growth. The story lines are very convincing. You can feel what the characters feel and they mystery is there to keep you on the edge. I can't wait for the next book. The only reason this was not five stars was the end. There is a cliffhanger, but this is a long story and a family series.
Overview. Might have spoilers. Sophie is a performing artist. She's into dancing, drama, singing and acting. She puts it all out there and only does minimal for her other classes. So when she shows up late again to her econ class, the TA Luke Hawthorne tells her she has more potential and should focus on an education too. She is mad at "professor Sexy Pants". Luke even tryst to apologize for his behavior through an email. Sophie forwards the email to her best friend Danny, but Danny doesn't get it. Instead, professor Sexy Pants does and calls it to her attention while out at a public bar. But soon they find themselves lip locked in the bathroom. If Danny had not been in trouble, they would have went too far. End of the term they go their ways for a few weeks before summer classes start. But when Sophie shows up at the lake house to see her mom, she is shocked to know her mom was dating John. John has 3 sons who show up; Cash, Jimmy, And Luke aka professor Sexy Pants. They keep their relationship under wraps. That is until her mom decides that she was going to sale their child home and move in with John. Sophie and Luke storm off, Maddie, Sophie's sister and Cash rush off too. Everyone is fighting. (No reference to little sis Anna and Jimmy and what happens to them during the family fight). Madrid decides to be the Big Sis and call her sister Sophie and tell her about her and Cash and ask what happened to her and Luke. But will the future work for the 4of them when they meet up? Will they be able to resolve the family issue or will there be more surprises?

loved Luke and Sophie

I really liked Luke and Sophie's story. I really like their parents even less in this book than I did in Cash and Maddie's story, and I didn't like them then. I like reading how Colleen unlocks a little more of the two families' secrets in each book. It's like all the pieces are coming together with each added book. I hope they all get a truly HEA. I think this was a good love story. I received this free for an honest review, and like the other step books, I don't really find it a real issue that they happen to be related by marriage, not blood, and in this case not even by marriage yet. Yes, you have to overlook the fact that three sister and three brothers meet beforehand and then find out their parents are hooking up, but they are all sweet stories. All that said, I really liked Luke and Sophie even better than Cash and Maddie. I can't wait for Anna and Finn's story because it's pretty obvious we're getting one.

Blazing hot!

Sophie Porter is taking two weeks, before her summer classes begin, to visit her mother and sisters in Montana. Sophie can't forget her interrupted hook-up with her sexy professor, and is hoping that when she gets back she will be able to have her way with the man. When she gets to Montana she meets the man that her mother has been staying with, then she gets to meet his three sons. Sophie is floored when one of the brothers turns out to be none other than the sexy professor she has the hots for, Lukas Hawthorne. The first week ends with the three Porter sisters, and the three Hawthorne brothers angry at their parents and leaving Montana. After a week of sneaky, sexy trysts, Lukas drives Sophie back to her college dorm and disappears. I loved this book, it's fantastic!

Great for the Brits

This would be a five star if I lived in England. Most,if not all, the products for cleaning and polishing were brands I had never heard of in the states. Technically the book was useful and gave me some ideas for basic pram cleaning. The history was very interesting.

Not the best book for the average homeowner

We are finishing a renovation and I am faced with the daunting task of selecting paint colors for an entire house. After re-reading Mariette Himes Gomez book on beautiful (neutral) rooms and reading her praise of Donald Koffman paints, I was excited to read a book by him. Disappointingly the book was not helpful for me. The book is outdated. Unless you like interiors from the 80s you're probably not going to find a room that you want to recreate. I could get past that if there was enough information to apply to today. I found the author assumed a deeper understanding of the color continuum than I possess. Rather than providing information about color and how it works, he presents case studies of his work. It's just too abstract for most. Here's what I took away from this $40 book: use colors from nature (already knew that and really not interested in lavender walls with terra cotta trim to mimic an african violet in a pot), Adjust hues based on the amount of light a room receives- the darker the room the darker the hue, the brighter the room, the lighter the paint. Use lighter hues to draw attention to something and darker to recede. That's it. That's what I got. There is a section on mixing your own paint, but really. This book didn't leave me with an understanding of the basics, how am I going to know what to do to make the adjustments? And what a mess! I think this book is best checked out at the library. That's what I wish I had done.

At last... colors that are ALIVE!

Are you tired of shuffling and comparing paint sample cards and agonizing over coordinating a palette, finally selecting what looks like the closest match only to find the colors you selected look positively DEAD on your walls?
This book will explain why. The concepts behind Kaufman's color palettes really open up a whole new world of color. If you never took an art class (or even if you did), you'll treasure this book because it explains very simply the basic problem with off-the-shelf paint colors and why, no matter what you choose, they have no life to them. There is even a chapter at the end of the book that shows how to mix and select your OWN palettes.
Anyone wanting a refreshing outlook on using color in home decorating will find this book essential reading.

the best book on color for interiors on the market

As an artist, I believe this book is, by far, the very best book on color for home/office interiors on the market. I have gotten so frustrated at paint stores as the language usually spoken there is very different than that of visual artists. Alas, Donald Kaufman has filled the gap! An intelligent, stunning book that reaches a place in my spirit that Martha Stewart couldn't reach........right up there with the recent book by Suzanne Butterfield, using Kaufman's color system.

Dr. Williams has, for many years, been actively involved in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, and several other professional accounting organizations. Throughout his career, he has taught continuing professional education for CPAs. In 1994, Dr. Williams received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from both the Tennessee Society of CPAs and the AICPA. He authored or co-authored six books and over 100 articles, monographs, and other publications on issues related to financial reporting and accounting and business education. Dr. Williams served as National President of Beta Alpha Psi, President of the American Accounting Association, and Chair of the Board of Directors of the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) International, the largest accreditation organization for business schools in the world. He retired from the University of Tennessee in 2013 and continues his involvement in several academic and professional organizations. JUDITH WEISS, CPA, has an M.S. in Accounting from Long Island University, Greenvale, New York, and an M.S. in Education from Queens College, Flushing, New York. After several years in public accounting and private industry, she worked as a technical manager in the AICPA's Accounting Standards Division, where she helped industry committees to develop Audit and Accounting Guides and Statements of Position. Joseph V. Carcello, Ph.D., CPA, CMA, CIA, is the Ernst & Young Professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Management at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Carcello also is co-founder and Director of Research for the University's Corporate Governance Center. He has taught continuing professional education courses for two of the Big 4 accounting firms, the AICPA, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Tennessee and Florida Societies of CPAs. He has provided consulting services to public companies on revenue recognition and on Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Dr. Carcello is the co-author of CCH's GAAS Guide. Dr. Neal currently teaches a graduate course in advanced financial accounting topics, an undergraduate intermediate accounting course, and has also taught undergraduate auditing. He has also taught continuing professional education courses for one of the Big 4 accounting firms for several years. Dr. Neal serves as the director of the Ph.D. program in Accounting and teaches a doctoral seminar in empirical/archival research, with an emphasis on auditing and corporate governance issues. Dr. Neal also serves as a research fellow of the ERM Initiative at North Carolina State University. Dr. Neal received a B.S. in accounting from Tennessee Technological University (1988) and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee (1998). Jan R. Williams, Ph.D., CPA, is Dean and Professor Emeritus of the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was on the faculty from 1977 through 2013. Formerly, he was on the faculties of the University of Georgia and Texas Tech University. He received a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Arkansas and is a CPA licensed in Arkansas (inactive) and Tennessee (license to practice).

About the Author
Rebecca S. Hauder, a Registered Nurse, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and Marriage and Family Therapist, worked twelve years in the hospice setting. There she witnessed and experienced firsthand the rewards and struggles of providing care to the elderly, sick, and dying. Since working in hospice, Rebecca has provided counseling to professional and family caregivers, and to those experiencing major life transitions, including loss and grief. She has created bereavement resources for individuals, hospice organizations, and funeral homes, and writes a “Self-Care Tip of the Month” for family and professional caregivers (www.resourcesforgrief.com/resources). Rebecca also serves as adjunct professor for Boise State University’s Department of Counselor Education. Currently residing in Boise,Idaho, she is married with two grown children and four grandchildren.

I heard it again today. A friend said, if we don't get some help for mom and her caregiving for dad, we will end up losing both of them.
Caregiving is not for the faint of heart. In the midst of caregiving, a person can lose perspective, question his/her sanity, become angry, become exhausted, become ill, and much more. This little book of thoughts and photos is for the caregiver - only a few paragraphs a day - as a reminder that others have trod this path. With these suggestions, walking the journey becomes a little easier.

The Nature of Caregiving

I work with advocates for victims of sexual assault. While their role is to protect the rights of the survivor, they are also often the first person to provide care during a time of extreme trauma. Rebecca’s book contains many carefully thought out ideas supported by her wonderfully appropriate photos that can help an advocate waive off “burn-out” by finding, in the author’s own words, “profound significance and meaning” in the work they do. This book contains helpful, pragmatic suggestions for self-care, each section paired with a beautiful photo taken by the author herself. I think the "words to inspire self-care" are also applicable beyond the caregiver realm.
